LOTD copyright owner?
LOTD copyright owner?
Post #1 » 1 year 3 weeks ago (12 Nov 2023, 21:25)
Hello dear group members. Does anyone know who currently owns the copyright to LOTD? I would like to do it in VR and would like to contact the current owner company if that is possible.

Thats a good question that i've been wondering myself. To be honest, i have no idea.... Maybe Universal Studios. Brainbox games or/and Groove Games were bought by some Canadian company that i really cant remember the name of. Generally, the games copyright isnt claimed.... yet... By its holder. I know its been posted on archive.org as abandoned. You would have to do more research.
Also, i sent you a reply regarding your credentials for your old account from 2012. But there seem to be two Dome accounts.

I've done some research and it looks like Funbox Media Ltd now owns Brainbox Games. On Steam, if you click the Developer (Brainbox), it links to them. Its also FunBox who added Desert Thunder 2003 to Steam, in what appears to be 2014.

Hi @destroyerlotd !
I am sorry to hear that dest but i am glad you come to tell us. I wish you a speedy recovery !
Blade only owns the domain name that is used for the master server, and he has the master server software. With the software anyone can run it if they change the MS address in the LOTD.ini file. He pays the yearly fee for the domain name which can range between $10-20/year, and the hosting fees as i think he doesnt host it on his own computer for many years now....
I dont know if you remember Dennis, but he wrote his own MS software after it shut down (i think in about 2010), but he got upset for nothing and left. Thank you for the nice words and for remaining with the LOTD community. I wish you good health !

Is it possible to transfer the ownership of the domain to me? If Destroyer is too ill to maintain the server, I can pay the annual $10-20 fee to keep LOTD running. I’m still young, I have a job, and I can’t let LOTD go. I’m one of the Korean members who has played with Destroyer for the past few years. I don’t have any knowledge about domain software, but if you explain it to me, I would like to take over and continue managing it.
Btw, I really hope Destroyer is okay. I still want to play LOTD with you as much as we can..

That is for @destroyerlotd to answer you. But nothing is stopping you to order your own server. I set the basis for hosting a server with that company, as they didnt support LOTD. You are free to order your server from this url: https://www.elitegameservers.net/game-s ... er-hosting. The server, mostly maintains itself, if its well configured with the maps.
